  Abstract:  This study is presenting the essay I sustained at the conference Renovabis, in Freising-Munich, the 2 of September 2005. In it are surprised some of the events preceding Romania´s entry into the European Union, which are as many stages of progress necessary for its acceptance as a full member. After mentioning the political steps taken in this respect, I insist on the contribution of the Romanian Orthodox Church to restore moral values in the Romanian society by its own renewal, and through her involvement in city life.
